We were waiting for it in september 2014 but there was a slight delay in the road map of Joomla 3.4. There was a message that the road map would get an update in january 2015 and here it is.

Updated roadmap

After all the feedback from the Joomla 3.4 alpha, it resulted into this:

  • January 20th 2015 - 3.4 Feature Freeze
  • January 27th 2015 - 3.4 Beta 1
  • February 3rd, 2015 - 3.4 Beta 2
  • February 10th, 2015- 3.4 Release Candidate
  • February 17th, 2015 - 3.4 Stable Release

Off course, these dates are not fixed, it's always possible there will be another change.

What's new in Joomla 3.4

With Joomla 3.4 there will be a removing om some core extensions from the core to a new category on JED where they can be downloaded as "core supported". The following core extensies are being removed:

  • Contact
  • Finder
  • Messages
  • Newsfeeds
  • Redirect
  • Search
  • Weblinks

With a new install of Joomla, these extensions will not be installed but you have to get them from JED.
